Today is Orange Shirt Day. We had a discussion around what this day represents in our history. Explain to a family member the meaning of this day for you. What makes you feel like you belong?

In science, we started the conversation around weather. We learned about what causes weather.  Share with a member of your family what you think is the main cause of weather and how it comes to be.  Why?

Digital Citizenship Contracts go home today. Please ensure they are signed by your parents and returned to your teachers.

We had fun linking math to the World! We had the opportunity of decoding some math codes related to the World (eg 10=N in a PN, 8= S in a SS). We also made some as well (eg. 12= h in h a d, 1 = Qu in E).

We practiced "Mindful Breathing" in class today. Please practice this with your families.

We get to go outside for our "Sharing Circle". We practiced active listening and taking turns.

 

*Making mistakes is good for you. It makes your brain grow!- Great Mathematical mindset

Today we reviewed the CBE Digital Citizenship expectations for technology use and created a chart of DO's and DON'Ts for our classroom. We also began working on our own personal Talking Sticks by carefully choosing materials that represent who we are.

Today our class completed our conversation around what makes schools, teachers and students GREAT. We brainstormed a comprehensive list of ideas for each category! In the afternoon, we began talking about wellness and what it means to us. Wellness comes in many different shapes and forms (i.e. physical, social, environmental, emotional, spiritual and intellectual) and can look different for each person.

Today we had the opportunity to request Learning Tools by sending our teachers an email explaining which tools would help us to be great learners. In the afternoon, we shared and discovered what we truly believe makes schools, students and teachers GREAT. We individually recorded our ideas in our Thought Journals before sharing with the rest of the class.

Today our class learned how to has access to the elibrary.  We will be able to select from books that are in our Learning Commons.  Our school librarian, Mrs. Reimer, will deliver our orders to our classroom. It will be like a 'Skip the Dishes' for books! Each book will be quarantined after it is returned. We will also have a daily read aloud. What are your favorite genres to read or to listen to?  Why? Do you have any suggestions for read alouds?
