We are in the final week of October in our Learning Journey. On Mondays, we have metaphors to compare our learning and develop our critical thinking. Everyday we also have Exit Slips comparing our learning that day with a simile or a metaphor. Please explain to member of your family what is a metaphor or a simile. What has been your favorite Monday Metaphor or Exit Slip so far? Why?

In LA, we continue to explore 'reading powers' through nonfiction texts. Find a nonfiction text (magazines, manuals, online articles etc) around your house and practice finding KEYWORDS with your family.
In Math, we continue to solve real world problems using different math strategies. With a family member(s) create a problem that requires using different strategies to solve and solve it. Have fun!

In Math, we started solving real world problems using math operations (additions, subtraction, division etc). We use numbers to understand and describe our world. Make up your own real world problem and solve it with your family. Have fun!
In LA, we continue to explore nonfiction texts using the 'reading powers'. With your families, use the acronym 'THIEVES' to zoom into a text.

In Math, we continue to explore large numbers and represent them in different forms (standard form, expanded notation etc). Please discuss with your families the large numbers you know and represent them in as many forms as you can.
We are exploring different weather phenomena in science. We will be researching and presenting these phenomena in the coming weeks.
